Introduction
Welcome! This is the Overview for my fanmade, unlicensed version of Biggoron’s Sword from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Whether you’re here for cosplay, a maker or just someone who likes oversized swords, welcome!
This Overview is about what drew me to the project: some musings and a rough prediction of how the project might unfold. If you’re after links to STL files or Build Kits, those will show up in the Assembly Guide when they’re ready.
The links to the full text and image build guides will appear below the images as each stage of the project is finished. Enjoy!
Link
After spanning generations of consoles and decades of releases, Link has remained one of gaming’s most stalwart guardians throughout the years. Few characters have managed a better long-term track record of incredible games than our silent hero.
The Legend of Zelda series offers an array of memorable weapons, shields, armours and gadgets. Link’s arsenal has grown over time, from Hookshots to Fire Rods, from outfits to underwater walking boots. There’s such a fleet of buildable trinkets, and so many Zelda games to build them from, that I’m sure this sword won’t be the last from the series! (It’s easy to be this sure when you have four of the five swords from Majora’s Mask printed… with the designs finished and ready to go since late 2023! >_<)

Biggoron’s Sword

It is a simple chunky blade with a slight curve towards the end. The hilt is a large, unapologetic wedge of blue steel with a number of rivets and a golden Goron crest on each side where it meets the blade. The handle is long enough to offer easy two-handed use, and the pommel at the bottom is a cone with some radial metal work.
While the Master Sword takes Link’s time in the blink of an eye as its price, the Biggoron Sword will sap the player’s time in a series of quests, running up and down Hyrule, but the end result is absolutely worth the leg work!
Once you have it, this oversized chunk of forged metal deals double the damage of the Master Sword, easily justifying the shield cost from using both hands. Earlier purchased versions shattered quickly with use, leaving the “Giant’s Knife” as nothing more than a stubby hint of a better sword to come. Maybe as a throwback to the Razor Sword from Majora’s Mask, or as a warning for what is to come in Breath of the Wild…
The Process
Biggoron’s Sword is the longest and largest sword Link can acquire in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Much like with the Hookshot & Longshot from the same game, I’ll be aiming for the 3DS version as I feel it strikes the best mix of clear referenceable details and retro familiarity.

This sword is big. Not crazy “Buster Sword” or crazier “Dragon Slayer” big, but bigger than any other sword I have made previously… but that is really the only challenge I can see here, and it’s not even *that* big! I’ll be aiming for about 1.2 metres long total.
Each part will be a separate piece to be brought together when finished, making construction and finishing much easier. This, of course, excludes the blade, which will ned to be printed in a few parts and assembled earlier in the build. I regret that I never bought one of the Belt printers, as this would have been amazing to print in two flat halves!
I’d be missing a trick not modelling and making a broken blade as well, so that is definitely the plan!
The Result
For now, it is just the 3D Model and the first version printed. When a full build happens, that will also be linked below much like the Assembly Guide currently is.
